Sterilize antibiotic solutions by filtration through a 0.2 um millipore membrane.
Store solutions in light-tight containers.
Do not add tetracycline to media with magnesium salts, since magnesium ions are antagonists of tetracycline.

For low copy number, relaxed plasmid preparation, grow bacterial culture until it reaches OD600= 0.4, and then add chloramphenicol to final conc. of 17 ug/ml. Grow additional 12-16 h.
